Nelly said in article that the name Apple Bottoms was a totally random idea that partners Martin and Kelly approved right away.

After agreeing in the name and concept of catering to women with an Apple Bottom figure, the Nelly & Co began schemeing their next move with the Apple Bottoms line. Apple Bottoms company’s president Leslie Ungar said the clothing line is about the correct fit, in combination with being classy.

“A woman should not try to fit the clothes; the clothes should fit the woman.”

The final decision to launch Apple Bottoms was based on a six-city tour to seek the perfect ‘Apple Bottoms Girls,’ a young woman aged 18-25 that represented the clothing line ideally. The tour, which began in New York, involves a stop in St. Louis, and last destination was Las Vegas.

VH1 made a reality show in colloboration with Apple Bottoms team about that tour. The success of the Apple Bottoms model contest series had people glued to the television and YouTube being searched heavily for episodes missed. VH1 station programmers had major Hip Hop audience interests sparked by the reality series.

Apple Bottoms jeans was the collection lanched the first. The Apple Bottom women’s jeans collection sold out nationally in a period faster than expected. Nelly’s thought turned out to be a golden idea for Hip Hop clothing and the partners were right, women needed clothing to fit them.

Since it’s launch the company has expanded into Apple Bottoms for girls. The expansion showed there is no age limit on the market that needs clothing that fits the woman or young lady wearing it.

Apple Bottoms has done extra well in sales as the brand-mark projected 50 million dollars revenue for 2004.

Martin, Nelly and Kelly have each have created some other businesses since the launch of Apple Bottoms. Nelly is a part owner of Nba team Charlotte Bobcats and co-owner of Pimp Juice energy drink. Kelly is the founder of Greedy Genius sneakers and street clothing brand and Martin is the founder of the lounge chain called ‘Jerseyville’.
